Meat the team: Kevin van der Meer

First of all, can you tell us a little more about yourself and your role within Iberdeli?
I'm Kevin van der Meer and I live in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht with my girlfriend. Together, we have two beautiful daughters, with the youngest being born just a month ago. In my free time, I enjoy going on fun outings with my family. On weekends, you'll find me in the swimming pool playing water polo.
At Iberdeli, I am responsible for logistics within Europe and make sure that orders reach their intended destinations.
How did you end up working at Iberdeli?
Iberdeli was a supplier at my previous employer, where I handled a part of the purchasing. In 2017, they were about to relocate to North Holland. Because of my preference to work closer to home and my positive experiences with Iberdeli, I inquired if there were any vacancies. Although there were no immediate job openings, a plan was developed especially for me. I began as a driver and, by arrangement, quickly advanced to positions in logistics and planning.
What does a workday look like for you?
In the morning, I make sure our drivers leave on time, to supply our Dutch customers with the ordered products. I am also responsible for the timely dispatch and receipt of various loads from Spain, our cold store in Ridderkerk or external cold stores. When necessary, I am hands-on involved in operations in the warehouse.
What type of meat would you gladly wake up for in the middle of the night?
The secreto from the Iberico pig and the USA Bavette (beef) are my favorites! Perfect for the BBQ, and all you need is a pinch of coarse sea salt.
Finally, which colleague would you like to trade a week with and why?
I would choose our sales colleague, Thu. He can sell anything to anyone. Thu could sell ice to an Eskimo. For me it seems fantastic and, at the same time, quite challenging!
